In a move aimed at regaining consumer confidence, Nestlé has roped in advertising veteran Prasoon Joshi and his firm McCann Erickson to handle the relaunch of the company’s Maggi instant noodles.
The company is likely to relaunch the country’s highly-popular noodle brand on November 12, sources in the advertising community said.
A Nestlé spokesperson, without confirming the exact date of the relaunch, said, “We are making our best endeavour to commence the sale of Maggi noodles within this month.”
While Publicis Worldwide remains Maggi’s advertising agency, ad guru Joshi and his team will handle the product relaunch.
“While Publicis India is the agency on record for Maggi noodles in India, we have been working with McCann India for some corporate projects. This (relaunch of Maggi) is one such project,” Nestlé spokesperson said.
The social media campaign has already begun with three commercials being aired on a ‘Meri Maggi’ channel on Youtube, assuring consumers that Maggi is safe and has always been so. It’s Facebook pages have also been updated with these ad films, which currently shows around 2.9 million “likes”. Social media is currently trending with two hashtags, #wemissyoutoo and #letyourmomknow, to spread the message to Maggi lovers.
