India’s vibrant private sector must play a critical role in taking forward relations between India and Thailand to the next level, Khun Korn Dabbaransi, former deputy prime minister of Thailand, said on Thursday.
He underlined the need to set up an Indo-Thai Friendship Association that would foster people-to-people contacts, bypassing governments to strengthen ties.
“If you wish to pursue your entrepreneurial desire, think of Thailand. We need to enhance people-to-people connect to reduce red-tapism and bureaucracy,” said Dabbaransi, who was in India to give away awards instituted by the Indian Achievers Forum.
The forum, in association with the India Thai Chamber of Commerce, held its 29th Indian Achievers Summit on Thursday. The summit focused on ways to enhance business opportunities between the two countries.
Dabbaransi also stressed the need to maintain friendly relations with China and other Asian nations for a “century of Asia.”
