"Rail-budget below expectations": Modi
"The Rail budget is below expectations and it does not carry special measures that will help improve passengers' amenities," Modi said while reacting to the budget.business Updated: Feb 27, 2008 04:28 IST
Describing as "below expectations' the rail budget for 2008-09 presented by Railway Minister Lalu Prasad in Parliament, Bihar's Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi today said the budget did not reflect special measures that would lead to improvement in passenger's amenities.
"The Rail budget is below expectations and it does not carry special measures that will help improve passengers' amenities," Modi said while reacting to the budget.
Referring to the proposal to give five per cent reservation to women for recruitment in constabulary and ten per cent reservation for women for sub-inspectors in Railway Protection Force (RPF), besides 50 per cent concession proposed for aged women in passengers' fares, Modi said all these promises were nothing but an eyewash.
In fact, Lalu Prasad should have given due considerations to the policy adopted by the state's NDA government which has made provisions for women to enjoy 50 per cent reservation for recruitment as teachers or for other government jobs, he said
He alleged that justice had not been done in the railway budget for Bihar.
