At least 250,000 educational jobs have been either saved or created by the Recovery Act, several months after it was pressed into service early this year that pumped in billions of dollars in the education sector, Obama Administration said on Monday.

"Preliminary reviews of recipient reporting data from state governments on educational spending through the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act, the Recovery Act, show that at least 250,000 educational jobs have been saved or created thus far," said Jared Bernstein, Chief Economist and Economic Policy Adviser to the US's Vice President.

This is a subset of the one million jobs saved or created thus far through the act, leaving the Obama Administration solidly on track to accomplish its stated goal of saving or creating 3.5 million jobs by later next year, he asserted at a White House news conference.

Melody C Barnes, Director, Domestic Policy Council, said the massive spending through the Recovery Act they have been able to avert massive layoffs and also created some jobs for pre-kindergarten, K-12, and higher education.
