India's Reliance Communications Ltd may outsource IT operations to a global service provider in a 10-year deal worth $1.5 billion, the Economic Times reported on Wednesday, citing company sources.
The outsourcing contract was part of Reliance Communications' overall strategy to remain asset light and improve operational efficiencies, the paper said.
"The company expects to receive final proposal from IT service providers in the next 2-3 weeks and a $1.5 billion contract itself could be signed in the next six weeks or so," a company source told the paper.
The paper did not identify any of the global service providers who Reliance was talking to. A company spokesman could not be immediately reached for a comment.
Reliance Communications is India's second-largest mobile services provider.
