India's Reliance Industries Ltd is importing liquefied natural gas at about $9 per million metric British Thermal Unit, to power its refinery in west India, executive director PMS Prasad told reporters outside the country's top court.

Reliance Industries, India's top conglomerate headed by billionaire Mukesh Ambani, is fighting a case with a firm run by his brother Anil Ambani over a gas supply deal.

The deal is part of a private family settlement under the which the Reliance empire was split between the brothers in 2005, following the death of their father.
