Reliance Industries, GSPL tie-up for natural gas

State-owned natural gas transmission company Gujarat State Petronet Ltd (GSPL) will carry natural gas for Reliance Industries' refinery and petrochemical complex in Jamnagar, as per the agreement inked by the two companies.

GSPL would carry 11 million standard cubic metres of gas every day from Bhadbhut in Bharuch located in the southern portion of Gujarat to Jamnagar which is situated in the North-Western part of the state, RIL informed the BSE.

The transportation of gas would start in the second quarter of 2008 and the agreement is valid for a period of 15 years from the start date, it added.

Under the agreement signed March 31, RIL has an option to increase the volume of gas up to 14 million standard cublic metres, it added.

The company would transport of a portion of its gas from its KG basin from Kakinada through its East West pipeline and deliver the same to GSPL at Bharuch.

For transportation of gas, GSPL which is a GSPC subsidiary, would use its existing pipeline and develop new pipelines between Bharuch to Hadala and Rajkot to Jamnagar.

Similarly, Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation (GSPC) has signed a gas transportation agreement with Reliance Gas Transmission and Infrastructure Ltd for transportation of 3.5 million standard cubic metres of natural gas per day from its KG basin discovery at Kakinada in Andhra Pradesh to Gujarat.

GSPC also has an option to increase the volumes of gas up to 11 million cubic metres of gas.

For transportation of gas from Kakinada to Gujarat, RGTIL is developing a pipeline between Kakinada and Bharuch. The gas would be carried under the same terms and condition as the GSPL-RIL agreement.
