RIL's Jamnagar refinery bags safety innovation award

The oil and gas division of Reliance Industries Ltd's Jamnagar Refinery will be conferred with the Institute of Engineers' 'Safety Innovation Award' for the year 2010.

The oil and gas division of Reliance Industries Ltd's Jamnagar Refinery will be conferred with the Institute of Engineers' 'Safety Innovation Award' for the year 2010.

The award would be presented on December 28 at the "Safety Convention 2010", organised by the Safety and Quality Forum of the Institute of Engineers.

Reliance's Jamnagar Refinery is the largest grassroot refinery in the country, with the capacity to process 27 million tonnes of crude per annum. It is also the third largest refinery in the world.

"The award is being presented for its operational excellence, environment management, quality, safety and corporate social responsibility," the chairman of the Safety Convention 2010, Pradeep Chaturvedi, said in a statement on .

Apart from Reliance Industries, the other companies which have been selected to receive safety excellence awards include Reliance Infrastructure, Mahindra & Mahindra, ACC Ltd, NTPC, Indian Oil Corporation, BSES, GAIL, NDPL, HPCL, Bharat Petroleum, Escorts Ltd, ONGC and Hindustan Petroleum.
