Reliance Communications (R Com) on Thursday launched an unlimited call plan for its CDMA services.
Under the prepaid plan, a customer can make unlimited calls anywhere in the country for Rs 599 per month.
The company currently has an average revenue per user (ARPU) of Rs 150 per month, so it is not clear how many exisitng users would find this plan attractive. It will be available from May 10, 2010.
Announcing the initiative, Mahesh Prasad, president marketing — wireless business, said, “This initiative eliminates the tariff metering concept prevalent in the industry. At a pre-paid charge of Rs 599 per month, the user can call any network anywhere in India, anytime. We can say the pulse rate is of one month duration.”
“We don’t see an irrational fall in base tariff rates however, there is likely to be a segment wise fall in rates and improved offers” said Syed Safawi, chief executive officer, wireless business, R Com.
