The Indian currency depreciated by 10 paise against the greenback today in early trade on the strong dollar and capital outflow by funds in anticipation of domestic stocks market opening weak.

At the Interbank Foreign Exchange (Forex) market, the domestic currency traded lower at 49.24 against the US currency, a fall of 10 paise over the previous close of 49.14/16 a dollar.

On Thursday, the rupee lost 3/4 paise to close at 49.14/16 a dollar.

The dollar's strength against some Asian currencies also put pressure on the rupee, forex dealers said.

Among Asian markets, Hong Kong's Hang Seng was down one per cent, while Japan's Nikkei fell 2.44 per cent in early trade on Friday.
