The rupee gained 4 paise against the dollar in the early trade on Friday in line with other firming Asian currencies amid continued capital inflows by foreign funds into equity markets.
At the Interbank Foreign Exchange (Forex) market, the rupee appreciated by 4 paise to trade at 45.77 a dollar. Yesterday, the rupee had ended one paisa higher at 45.81/82.
Forex dealers said besides firmness in other Asian currencies, continued capital inflows into equities by foreign funds also supported the rupee.
