Satyam Computer Services Ltd, India's fourth largest software exporter on Friday launched a life sciences centre of excellence in Hyderabad to provide software solutions to drug and pharmaceutical firms.

With 30 professionals, the centre will showcase Satyam's expertise, the company said.
"The centre of excellence is a critical investment we have made. It will provide flexibility and ease of customisation, enabling faster implementations and therefore a better return on investment," Ram Mynampati, president, commercial and healthcare business of Satyam, told a news conference.

It has 26 customers including half a dozen of the top 10 global pharmaceutical companies. Satyam has 1,300 employees dedicated to developing software related to the life sciences.
