Sensex ends lower for second day in a row

business Updated: Dec 14, 2007 16:53 IST

The benchmark Sensex ended lower by nearly 74 points on the Bombay Stock Exchange on Friday on profit selling by funds.

The Sensex, which lost over 271 points in the previous day's trading, fell further by 73.56 points to 20,030.83.

The index touched the day's high of 20,171.57 and a low of 19,936.49 points.

Similarly, the National Stock Exchange index Nifty fell by 10.40 points to 6,047.70. It rose to a high of 6,078.55 and a low of 6,015.05 points.

Marketmen said major players were offering a part of their holdings in view of a steep rise in stock prices during the current week.

A weakening trend in the US and other Asian stock markets influenced trading to some extent, they added.
