The benchmark Sensex recovered from early losses by gaining over 44 points on the Bombay Stock Exchange in early trade on Thursday on buying by funds. <b1>
The 30-share index Sensex, which opened the day lower by 95 points, wiped off the losses and moved up by 44.92 points to touch 15,491.07 in first five minutes of trading as market players rushed to pick heavy-weight stocks available at attractive level.
Similarly, the wide-base National Stock Exchange's Nifty after dipping 30 points recovered to trade 8.75 points higher at 4,484.60 points.
The trading sentiment was mixed in line with similar trend in the Asian region.
