The Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark Sensex on Friday opened lower by over 61 points on emergence of profit-booking at higher levels.
The 30-share index, which recorded a hefty gain of nearly 500 points in previous day's trading, declined by 61.29 points at 15,457.20 points in first five minutes of trading.
Similarly, the wide-based national stock exchange index Nifty lost 17.95 points at 4,587.05 points. It had gained 147.50 points in yesterday's trading.
Brokers said selling pressure developed in opening trade on investor booking profits at existing higher levels.
They said a mixed trend in overseas market also influenced the trading sentiments.
