Falling for the second day in a row, the BSE benchmark Sensex on Tuesday tumbled by 224 points, or 1.3% to close at 17,480.8 on across-the-board selling amid weak global cues.

Interest rate-sensitive realty, auto and banking segments led the decline. Some of the metal, capital goods and refinery stocks were also at the receiving end.

The 50-issue Nifty of the National Stock Exchange also tumbled further by 69 points, or 1.3%, to below 5,300-mark at 5,257.95. htc, Mumbai
