Continuing its upward movement, the Bombay Stock Exchange's Sensex rose 123 points in early trading on Friday on buying by funds, taking cues from global markets.

The Sensex which had gained 200.69 points in the previous session, shot up by another 122.83 points at 14,326.55 in the first five minutes of trading on Friday.

Similarly, on the wide-based National Stock Exchange, Nifty index regained 4,200 mark by surging 33.65 points at 4,203.65.

Market observers said apart from firming trends in global markets, expectations of a further ease in inflation, to be announced around noon on Friday, also buoyed the trading sentiments.

Major gainers were Reliance Industries, BHEL, Infosys Technologies, State Bank of India, Reliance Energy, Reliance Communications, Tata Consultancy, Tata Motors, ACC and Gujarat Ambuja Cement.
