Continuing its bullish approach to hiring, India's largest software exporter Tata Consultancy Service (TCS) may see its staff strength crossing 300,000 in 2013.
The largest private sector employer, TCS, added 36,886 people in 2012, taking the total strength to 263,637. If the company adds similar number of people this year, it would cross 300,000 this year.
"We need to add 37,000 people to cross 300,000. If we do not cross that number we would at least be fairly close to that," said Ajoy Mukherjee, global head, human resources, TCS.
"We definitely see the business will be better next financial year. But we will decide if we need to hire more people than we hired last fiscal only by February end."
Meanwhile, the company is poised to exceed its hiring target for the financial year 2012-13.
After attrition, the company added 25,054 people in the three quarters of the financial year while its gross hiring so far is just 400 short of its annual target of 50,000.
"This quarter we will hire 10,000 more. So our total hiring this financial year will be 60,000," Mukherjee said.
The company has already decided to hire 25,000 freshers from campuses for the next financial year. "We have already sent out more than 24,000 offers. About 75-77% of them are likely to join us," he said.
He said visa norms remains tough, affecting people movement for onsite works abroad.
