Tata Power Q3 net up 40%, but revenue dips

Private power utility Tata Power on Tuesday said its net profit rose 40.4 per cent to Rs 141.8 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2009.

Total income, however, decreased to Rs 1,611.6 crore for the third quarter ended December against Rs 1,822.8 crore in the same period last year, Tata Power Company said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange.

Shares of Tata Power Company were trading at Rs 1,423.2 on BSE, down by 1.2 per cent from its previous close.

Marginal fall in Novartis India profit

Drug maker Novartis India Ltd on Tuesday reported a marginal fall of about 4 per cent in its net profit for the third quarter ended December 2009, at Rs 23.2 crore, over the corresponding period a year ago.

However, net sales rose to Rs 160.5 crore in the latest quarter from Rs 156.9 crore last year.

For the nine-month period ended December 31, the company posted a net profit of Rs 88.2 crore, down 6 per cent from last year.

Buoyant Zee to hike stake in Ten Sports

Media firm Zee Entertainment on Tuesday posted a 74.5 per cent jump in its net profit at Rs 146.4 crore for the December quarter, and said it will consolidate its stake in Ten Sports at 95 per cent.

However, the total income of the company has declined to Rs 563.2 crore for the third quarter ended December 31, 2009, from Rs 585.7 crore in the same period previous year.

SRF Q3 net profit flat at Rs 37.6 cr

Gurgaon-based SRF Ltd posted a marginal increase of 0.3 per cent in its net profit for the October-December 2009 quarter.

The company’s net profit during the period stood at Rs 37.6 crore while revenues grew 17 per cent to Rs 490 crore.
