The Tata Group is the only India-headquartered company to have found a place among Asia’s top 10 companies for training leaders.

This year company has moved up one place against last year and now ranks fourth among Asia’s 10 best companies for leadership, found the annual best companies for leadership study conducted by global management consultancy firm Hay Group.

Samsung topped the Asia list followed by Toyota, Unilever, Tata and Petronas. Others in the top 10 in Asia include General Electric, IBM, Sony, Coca-Cola and DHL International.

The study, in which more than 18,000 individuals from 2,200 organisations took part, ranks the best companies for leadership around the globe and examines how those companies nurture talent and foster innovation in their ranks.

Globally, this year, Procter & Gamble topped the list, followed by Microsoft, General Electric and Coca-Cola.

Around 73% of the top 20 companies reported giving everyone the opportunity to develop and practice the capabilities needed to lead others, compared to only 47% of other companies.

“These companies recognise that many of the skills once required solely for senior leadership roles are now critical at every level of the organisation,” said Ruth Malloy, global MD, Hay Group’s Leadership and Talent practice.
