Titan Eye Plus, the third consumer facing business of Titan Industries, has forayed into lens making and set up its own manufacturing facility in Chikkabalapur, Bengaluru. With the foray into lens making, Titan Eye Plus will now be able to offer prescription lenses in India.

“We entered the business as retailers and now keeping in mind the consumer benefit in terms of swift delivery and better quality, we decided to manufacture lenses,” said Bhaskar Bhat, managing director, Titan Industries.

The facility will deliver 200,000 lenses annually, and according to Titan Industries the capacity is sufficient for the next few years. “We are a late entrant in this segment which is largely unorganised and heavily fragmented. Titan Eye Plus will bring value to this business,” adds Bhat.

According to market estimates the industry is worth around Rs 1,800 crore.
