ShakiraThere’s great news for Shakira fans — the Latino singer may soon be heard crooning to Indian tunes. Bollywood music director duo, Sajid-Wajid, is collaborating with the Hips Don’t Lie singer for an Indo-western song.

“Shakira’s programmer Archie Pena had worked with us as a drummer in the Jalwa song from the movie Wanted,” Wajid told HT City. “It was Archie who approached us to collaborate with them for an Indo-western song.”

Though the final date is yet to be announced, the composer duo hopes to “start work in about two months”. They are slated to meet Shakira “either in London or in the US”.

Apart from Sajid-Wajid, music composers Shankar, Ehsaan and Loy are teaming up with the producer of Timbaland, Jim Bean, for an album featuring
international artists. “We have composed a song with Jim Bean, but don’t know when it will release,” says Ehsaan. “We are in talks for further collaborations.”

Desi debacles
While many international artists have collaborated with Indian composers of late, none have managed to strike a chord with the audience. Kylie Minogue failed to impress in Blue, while the latest Adnan Sami-Jermaine Jackson album is a dampener. Pritam Chakraborty had managed some success with Tata Young in Dhoom but failed with Snoop Dogg in Singh Is Kingg. The AR Rahman-Pussycat Dolls collaboration also received mixed reviews.
