Nangal block Congress president Parmjit Singh Pamma on Monday claimed that 1,395 Class 3 and 4 posts are currently vacant in the Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB).
Pamma, who claimed he secured the figures under the Right to Information Act, said the RTI revealed that in 2005 there were 5,236 sanctioned posts, including 2,916 Class 3 and 2,320 Class 4 posts. However, of these, 695 had been vacant.
The figures, he says had gone down thereafter, when, between 2005 and 2014, close to 200 posts were abolished.
He said currently, a total of 5,036 posts, including 2,756 of Class 3 and 2,282 of Class 4, only 3,656 are currently occupied, adding that out of 1,395 vacant posts, 903 are Class 3 posts and 492 are Class 4 posts.
Pamma said while the board continued blaming its partners, Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Rajasthan state gover nments for the acute staf f crunch, infor mation obtained under the act from the board itself revealed that BBMB have its own recruitment process for 460 posts (297 Class 3 and 162 Class 4 posts) and need not consult the other states for it.
“However, BBMB does not seem interested in filling up these posts,” he alleged.
Pamma said the board was denying employment opportunity to jobless youngsters in Nagal, which is currently facing a crisis due to closure of several industries.
He also demanded that BBMB and partner states should fill up vacant of Class 3 and Class 4 cadres, which are currently vacant and said residents of Nagal would launch a mass agitation unless the posts were filled.
