1 killed, 15 injured as bus falls into gorge in Mandi
One person was killed and at least 15 people were injured when a private bus fell into a deep gorge near Bathuan village, around 150 km from Mandi town, under Gohar sub-division of the district on Monday morning.

Driver of the bus (HP-66-1431), identified as Sant Ram (40), a resident of Malahar Somakothi village of Karsog subdivision, succumbed to his injuries at civil hospital at Anni in Kullu district.
The 15 injured persons were admitted to Anni hospital from where two of them who were in a serious condition, Rajesh Kumar and Jai Ram, have been referred to Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC), Shimla.
Some of the injured told the police that the bus was too old to ply in such a difficult terrain.
They claimed that they heard the sound of something breaking beneath the bus after which the driver lost control over the vehicle.When the bus hit the ground in the valley, it was broken into several pieces.
Karsog sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) Vivek Chauhan and naib tehsildar Ravi Bodh visited the spot of the incident and Anni hospital.
They also provided ex-gratia amount to the family members of the injured and driver of the bus killed in the incident. Police have registered a case and started investigations into the matter.
