Government agencies and private millers have procured 105.5 lakh tonnes of paddy in Punjab till Monday evening. State government agencies procured 99.7 lakh tonnes (94.6%), whereas private traders procured 5.7 lakh tonnes (5.4%).
Till November 4, Pungrain had procured 30.05 lakh tonnes (30.1%); Markfed, 23.4 lakh tonnes (23.5%); Punsup, 22.4 lakh tonnes (22.5%); Punjab State Warehousing Corporation (PSWC), 9.8 lakh tonnes (9.8%); and Punjab Agro Foodgrains Corporation (PAFC), 10.08 lakh tonnes (10.1%). The Food Corporation of India (FCI), a central government agency, has procured 4 lakh tonnes (4%) so far.
The spokesperson said Sangrur district topped the list with 12 lakh tonnes of procurement, followed by Patiala district (11.03 lakh tonnes) and Ludhiana (11 lakh tonnes).
