The Chandigarh police claimed to have solved eleven cases of auto thefts and burglaries in the city with the arrest of three people.
The police said the accused, Ranjit and Pitambar, both residents of Mauli Jagran, were arrested from Mani Majra last week when they were driving a stolen Honda City car with a fake number. The third accused, Balwant, a Mansa Devi-resident, was arrested after his name came up during interrogation of the two arrested earlier.
The police said the accused have admitted that they committed vehicle thefts in Mani Majra, Mauli Jagran, Ram Darbar and Panchkula and the stolen vehicles were used for burglaries in different places.
The trio also confessed to have committed burglaries in various shops of confectionery, chemists, mobile shops in Panchkula, Ambala, Patiala, SAS Nagar and Yamuna Nagar Road. Four mobiles were recovered from the accused.
