Police have booked an 11-year-old girl for the murder of an 11-month-old girl child at Zirakpur on Thursday. The deceased has been identified as Jannat, a resident of Zirakpur, and is a native of Uttar Pradesh.
Salam Khan, the father of the deceased, complained to the police that his daughter was murdered by a minor, staying in the neighbourhood.
He alleged that a few days back, he had told the accused to stay away from her daughter as she used to hurt the child.
“This angered the girl and she killed my child,” he alleged.
He claimed that the victim and the accused were last seen sitting outside the house.
Later, the infant was untraceable and after they lodged a search, her body was found in the N-choe near their house.
He alleged that the girl threw the child in the choe. The infant was rushed to the local civil hospital, where the doctors declared him dead on arrival.
A case has been registered under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code against the 11-year-old.
Investigating officer assistant sub-inspector Kewal Singh said that a case had been registered as per the statement of the father of the deceased, but the accused was absconding.
