People staying on the first and second floors in Buterla village in Sector 41 are literally thirsting for water due to no supply in the area for the past fortnight. The harried area residents alleged that nothing had been done so far to redress their grievance despite informing authorities.
Area councillor Malkiat Singh alleged that the tall claims of city mayor Subhash Chawla to ensure adequate water supply to the city residents have fallen flat since area residents staying on the first and second floors in Sector 41 had gone without water for the last 15 days.

“We have requested the officers concerned several times, but no one has come to rectify the problem. I will raise the issue in the coming House meeting,” he said.

On the other hand, MC sub-divisional engineer Suresh Gill admitted that there was no water supply on the top floors, but assured that they were trying to redress the problem. “At present, tube well water is being supplied to the area and we are trying to ensure supply of canal water to the village,” he said.

Nominated councillor Major DS Sandhu (retd) said, “We do not know why officials concerned don't do their homework during the winter season. I have raised the issue in the MC House several times, but they never bothered. This is just the beginning of summer season; the situation will get worse in the coming days,” he added.
