19-year-old held for stabbing Sec-30 resident

A 19-year-old boy was arrested for allegedly stabbing a Sector 29 resident in Chandigarh on Sunday. The accused, identified as Sahil Kumar, is a resident of Sector 30.

According to police, Sahil Kumar, along with his four accomplices, had stabbed Ashwinder Sharma. In his complaint, Ashwinder Sharma alleged that he was attacked with sharp-edged weapons at the Sector-29 market, after which the attackers fled the spot.

The victim was then rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital in Sector 32.

According to the police, Sharma and Kumar had known each other for long and were old rivals.

The police have registered case of rioting (Section 147), rioting, armed with deadly weapon (Section 148), unlawful assembly (Section 149), attempt to murder (Section 307), criminal intimidation (Section 506) and acts done by several persons to further common intent (Section 34) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at the Industrial Area police station.

The suspect was produced before the court and has been remanded to judicial custody. The police are yet to arrest the others allegedly involved in the crime.
