Two residents of Sector 47 were booked after they made an unsuccessful attempt to flee from a Sector 52 petrol pump without paying Rs 1000 for petrol that they got filled in their Maruti Zen. They also brandished a pistol when the staff resisted their attempts to flee. The police said the accused came to the petrol pump at around 6:30pm and asked the petrol pump attended to fill fuel worth Rs 1000 in their car. They gave a debit card to the attendant for payment, but the card did not work.

It was then that the duo, identified as Enosh Rahul Peter and Gurpreet Singh alias Guri, tried to flee in their car. The vehicle bore different registration numbers - DL-3CN-0364 on front and DL-3CN-0864 on the rear.

Gurpreet was driving the car and when the card did not work, he signaled Rahul, who had ventured out of the car to get into the vehicle. While escaping, Gurpreet rammed the car into the parapet. At this, Rahul came out of the car and pointed a pistol at the petrol pump employees. However, one of the petrol pump employee overpowered Rahul.

The police were informed. Rahul was arrested from the spot and the weapon confiscated, which turned out to be a toy. Gurpreet managed to escape from the spot.

A case under Sections 473 (making or counterfeiting a seal, plate, etc with intent to commit a forgery) and 406 (criminal breach of trust) of the IPC has been registered at the Sector 36 police station.
