Police booked two persons for trying to rape a minor, after forcibly entering into her house on Wednesday.

The 15 year old victim, a Burail resident, was hit with a bottle on her head and was forced to consume phenyl before attempts were made to rape her.
Shubham (22) and Subhash alias Lakha (40) have been booked for the offence. While Subhash, who is pursuing his graduation, has been arrested, Shubham, a mechanic, is still at large.

According to the police, the two accused attacked the girl due to personal enmity with her brother. The incident took place when the victim was alone at her house. The duo forcibly entered into her house and locked the room from inside. They tied her mouth with a cloth and when she raised the alarm, Shubham hit her with a bottle on her head, the victim told the police, adding that the accused also forcibly made her consume phenyl, after which she got unconscious. The accused then left the spot.

Victim’s elder sister, who had gone to a relative’s house in the neighbourhood, saw her lying unconscious and rushed her to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Sector 32, with the help of neighbours.

The victim’s sister claimed that the police were trying to hush-up the matter and not registering a case.

The victim, who was lying on a stretcher at GMCH, said, “The accused had tried to molest me earlier as well, and had also thrashed my brother. We entered a compromise at that time as our parents were out of town.”

However, the police later registered a case under sections 450 (trespass), 307 (attempt to murder), 376/511 (attempt to rape) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the IPC and provisions of Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act.

SHO of Sector 34 Rajesh Shukla said efforts were on to nab Shubham. The victim’s parents worked as daily wagers.
