Two people were killed and a two-year-old boy was injured in three separate road accidents in Chandigarh on Wednesday.In the first incident, a cyclist was crushed to death under a bus owned by a private college.
The deceased Harinder Singh (20) is a resident of Dhanas.
He was killed after he was crushed by a bus of Chitkara College at the Dhanas and Dadumajra dividing road.
The police was informed after the incident occurred and the victim was rushed to Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh, where he was declared brought dead.
The bus driver has been identified as Ashok Kumar, who was arrested at the spot.
A case under sections 279, 337 and 304A (for rash driving, causing hurt by an act endangering life or personal safety of others, and causing death by negligence) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered against Kumar at the Sector 11 police station.
He was later released on bail.In the other incident, a 50-year-old pedestrian was killed after hit by an over-speeding car near the Sector 38/40 dividing road. The incident took place on late Tuesday night while the victim Rameshwar Dass, a resident of Sector 38, was on his way back home. A passerby informed the police and the victim was rushed to the Government Multi Specialty Hospital in Sector 16 from where he was referred to PGIMER. He later succumbed to his injuries.A case has been registered against unknown persons at the Sector 39 police station.
In separate incident, Karan (2) was hit by a car in Dadumajra. The victim was rushed to the PGIMER where his condition is now said to be serious. The accused fled from the spot.
