Two cops attached to the Police Control Room (PCR), SAS Nagar, were dismissed from service for harassing and threatening a young couple to extort Rs 5,000 as illegal gratification.

Taking strict note of extortion by the cops, police constable Raghubir Singh and Punjab home guard Surinder Kumar have been dismissed from service.

The cops were arrested after the registration of a case in Phase 11 police station on the complaint of Inderdeep Singh, a resident of Phase 10, who alleged that the cops had demanded Rs 5,000 from his niece Kudrat and her fiancée Kuljeet Singh.
