In a major lapse on the part of the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB), 200 re-appear examination forms of classes 10 and 12 from Sangrur district have gone missing. The exams are scheduled to begin on Wednesday.

Though students have been issued duplicate roll numbers, board chairperson Tejinder Kaur Dhaliwal has marked an inquiry into the matter. The forms are collected at regional centres and later sent to the board headquarters here.

Students who came to the board office here on Tuesday for getting duplicate roll numbers said they had receipts of fees deposited in the regional office at Sangrur.

Paramjeet Singh, a student, said, "I had been waiting for the roll number for the past 15 days, but when I approached the PSEB office here, I got to know that the board had misplaced 200 examination forms."

When contacted, the PSEB chairperson said, "Duplicate roll numbers have been issued on the basis of the receipts, but an inquiry has been marked. We do not know yet whether it was a lapse on the part of board officials here or at the regional office in Sangrur. Strict action will be initiated against those found guilty."

About two years ago, examination forms of students from Sangrur district had also been misplaced, following which a board official was suspended.
