21 people will be honoured on I-Day

As many as 21 people of Rupnagar district will be honored for their outstanding contribution in various fields at a district-level Independence Day function to be held at Nehru Stadium here.

The distinguished people who will be honoured are - Sanjay Sharma of Ambuja Cement Foundation; national weightlifting gold medallist Alka; CBSE Class 12 exam topper of Rupnagar district Pomy Mandal of Shiwalik Public School; karate player Tajvir Singh; NSS coordinator of Government College, Rupnagar, Prof Jatinder Gill.

Apart from them, deputy commissioner office superintendent Santosh Kumari; sub-inspectors Gabbar Singh and Harmesh Kumar and head constable Rakesh Raj; disabled welfare association president Nand Kishor; DAV Public Senior Secondary School principal Naresh Gautam; and theatre personality Sarabjit Singh Haveli will also be honoured on the occasion.

Apart from them, civil hospital blood bank in-charge Dr Gurwinder Kaur; technical supervisor Amandeep Singh; lab technician Harpreet Kaur; numberdar Jagtar Singh; animal husbandary department deputy director Dr SK Khullar; veternary officer Dr Vishal Dhawan; ETT teacher Paramjit Singh; and president of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Youth Welfare Club, Nodhe Majra, will also be honoured on the occasion.

Meanwhile, all the arrangements have been made for Independence Day celebrations. Punjab industries,commerce and technical education minister Madan Mohan Mittal will unfurl the national flag on the occasion.
