A 23-year-old woman of Dhar Kalan area in Dhar block was allegedly drugged and gang-raped in Pathankot late on the evening of April 14.
In her complaint to the Kanwa police, the victim, who is working in a private nursing home, alleged that when she was on way back to her village in the evening, her colleague, Pardeep, working in the same hospital, gave her a lift on his motorbike.
He, however, took her to nearby Sarna village on his motorcycle on the pretext of some personal work there, she alleged, adding, on the way to Sarna, the accused offered her ice cream.
The victim told police that after consuming the ice cream she felt giddiness, but she knew little that it was laced.
She claimed that Pradeep took her to a small shop, where she saw one of his friends Vicky and one unidentified person waiting them, and she fell unconscious. “When I regained consciousness, I found that I was raped,” she alleged. She said Pardeep later dropped her in Pathankot in a semi-conscious condition.
“I lodged a complaint with police, because I was cheated and raped by a colleague and his friends,” she said.
Confirming the incident, senior superintendent of police (SSP) Rakesh Kaushal said following the report from deputy superintendent of police (DSP, rural) Parabhjot Singh Virk a case of rape was registered against the trio, while Vicky was arrested. The SSP said the medical report confirmed rape.
