23-yr-old P’kula woman sets herself ablaze, dies

A 23-year-old woman namely Kiran committed suicide by setting herself on fire on Thursday. The incident took place at about 4pm when Uttar Pradesh native Kiran, living in a shanty in Sector 12-A, Panchkula, was reportedly alone at her residence.

Some eyewitnesses said Kiran had poured kerosene on herself before setting herself ablaze. They also saw her engulfed in flames coming out of her shanty. The eyewitnesses also put water on her and tried to save her with a quilt but all attempts went in vein as the woman died.

Kiran was rushed to General Hospital in Sector 6, where she was declared brought dead. The deceased got married seven months ago and was living with her husband and mother-in-law. The police said a case had been registered and investigation was on.

Labourer's son commits suicide

SAS NAGAR: An 18-year-old boy committed suicide by hanging himself with a ceiling fan at his house in Sanghadevi village in SAS Nagar on Thursday.

The deceased, identified as Munish Kumar (18), was a student of Class 12. He was a son of a labourer.
As per reports, the incident took place in the afternoon, when the mother of the deceased found his son hanging. The police said no suicide note had been recovered near the body.

After informing the police, the boy was rushed to civil hospital where doctors declared him brought dead. The deceased’s family members in their statement said their son had failed to clear the final exams of Class 12 due to which he was in depression from past few days.
