25-year-old dies of drug overdose; three Kharar residents booked

Three Kharar residents, including a women, were booked for culpable homicide on Wednesday after a 25-year-old man died due to drug overdose in Kharar on Wednesday.

The suspects have been identified as Talwinder Singh alias Budha, Harjinder Singh alias Jinder and Sandeep Kaur alias Sandy.

According to the police, the deceased, Tanvir Ahmed (25), also a resident of Kharar, worked as commission agent at Kharar grain market. On May 19, he was allegedly forcefully injected with an overdose of heroin after which he became unconscious. The suspects then alle g edly r ushed him to the private hospital in SAS Nagar without infor ming his f amily members, after which the fled, said Ispikhar, the uncle of deceased.

“Even Tanvir mobile phone was switched off. We were all trying to trace him. On the morning of May 20, a relative told us that he was in the hospital in SAS Nagar,” he said, adding that when Tanvir’s condition did not improve, he was shifted to Gyan Jyoti Hospital. He was declared dead on May 27. “Doctors had said that Tanvir’s lungs and kidney had been stop working due to the overdose,” he said.

The deceased’s father, Parvez Mohammad, who filed the complaint on Wednesday, alle ged that Talwinder was the main accused and other two were involved in the conspiracy.

Station House Officer (SHO) of Kharar city, Vinod Kumar said, “We are verifying the role of the accused in the case. Arrests would be made soon.”
