Punjab has set a deadline of March 2013 to unveil 26 state-of-the-art community health centres across the state at a cost of Rs 130 crore.
The centres would come up at Baleanwali in Bathinda district; Chowk Mehta and Verka (Amritsar); Mehal Kalan (Barnala); Khera and Chanarthal Kalan (Fatehgarh Sahib); Makhu and Wahawala (Ferozepur); Purana Shalla, Naushehra Majja Singh and Dhaliwal (Gurdaspur); Benewal and Harta Badla (Hoshiarpur); Hathoor and Koom Kalan (Ludhiana); Kasal and Chabbal (Tarn Taran); Bariwala (Muktsar); Doodhan Sadhan (Patiala); Bharatgarh (Rupnagar); Bareta (Mansa); Bajakhana and Sadiq (Faridkot); Sherpur (Sangrur); Lalru (SAS Nagar); and Dirba (Sangrur); public works department (PWD) minister Sharanjit Singh Dhillon said here on Sunday.
Nearly 90% of the infrastructure work on these centres has been accomplished and the remaining work would be completed in the next five months, the minister said.
The government is also working on completing five additional polytechnics by March next year, he said.
