A 26-year-old scooter-borne man on Tuesday succumbed to injuries suffered on September after he was hit by an unidentified vehicle in Sector 26.

Victim Usmeet, who was working as a clerk with a transport company in Sector 26, was hit in the same sector near the Police Lines and was spotted by some passersby in a pool of blood, said station house officer (SHO) inspector Anokh Singh. He was taken to Government Multi-Specialty Hospital in Sector 16, where he died. The body was handed over to the family after post-mortem examination.

A case for rash driving, causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others, and causing death by negligence under sections 279, 337 and 304A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered against the unidentified driver.
Inspector Singh said some clues had been gathered towards ascertaining the identity of the accused.
