A 27-year-old married man hanged himself from his ceiling at his residence in Mauli Jagran on Monday.

While no suicide note was recovered from him, police suspect he took his life due to an unhappy marriage.

Bhoop Singh worked as a painter. He is survived with his two children and wife. The incident came to light on Monday afternoon, when neighbor spotted Singh hanging from a ceiling fan.

The neighbour then alerted the police after which Singh was taken to the civil hospital, where he was declared brought dead.

Manimajra SHO Charanjeet Singh Virk said neighbours had told the police that Singh was depressed due to marital problems. They also stated that the couple frequently fought.

The neighbour is believed to have said that Singh left the house for his native village following an argument on Saturday. He then came back and took his life, the neighbour said.

A case has been registered in the matter.
