275 students take part in regional youth parliament contest

275 students from five Kendriya Vidyalayas spread over Chandigarh, Punjab, Haryana and Himachal participated in a two-day long KVS Regional Youth Parliament competition which commenced on Thursday morning at 3BRD Air Force Station.

Organised by Kendriya Vidyalaya-47, five contesting teams from Kendriya Vidyalayas in Chandigarh, Adampur, Patiala, Shimla and Mandi strived hard to bring alive working of Indian parliament and issues related to it.

Pawan Kumar Bansal, former union minister of railways and parliamentary affairs, inaugurated the function. Bansal appreciated the whole hearted performance of students and advised them to develop democratic temperament in every field. Amita Sharma, principal of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sector 47, accorded a warm welcome to the distinguished guests. She highlighted the efforts made by KVS towards developing democratic values among students.

KVS held this competition under the ageis of Ministry of Human Resource Development in order to provide an opportunity to students to have on hand experience of working of Indian Parliament. The jury of the contest were Gurcharan Singh Boparai (MLA Raikot), M K Kulshrestha, assistant commissioner, Chandigarh Region and S K Loth, Principal, KV Mullanpur. The competition will continue till Friday.
