The police have identified three people, who had allegedly sexually harassed a woman cop and had roughed up her husband, also a cop, in Sector 27 on February 7, and have recovered the car used in the crime.
The accused have been identified as Kamala, Gobind Kumar and Amamardeep Dhariwal, who is resident of Sector 19 and a lawyer. The other two accused are unemployed.
The Maruti Swift car, used in the crime, belongs to a city-based high court advocate, who is a friend of one of the accused. Deputy superintendent of police (DSP) (East) Vijay Kumar said the accused would be nabbed very soon.
The police said that after the incident they had got in touch with Maruti dealerships to find recently sold vehicles, as the car bore a temporary registration number.
The assaulted woman officer was deployed with the mobile police station and was going from Sector 26 to the Sector-17 bus stand with her husband, when the incident happened.
The miscreants followed the couple in a car till Sector 27, and also thrashed the victim's husband, who had objected to their lewd remarks.
A case for assault and offensive sexual behaviour was registered at the Sector-26 police station.
