3 dead in accidents in the city

A 38-year-old man and his wife were killed when the scooter they were riding was hit by an unidentified vehicle near Sector 40 on Sunday evening. Elsewhere a 22-year-old woman died when she was hit by a motorbike.

The first accident took place when Ashok Kumar, his wife Santosh Devi, 35, and their 10-year-old daughter Muskan, were returning home in Sector 40. The vehicle sped away after the incident.

Police were informed by a passerby and Kumar, his wife and daughter were rushed to Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER). Ashok was declared brought dead. His wife succumbed to her injuries in the hospital while Muskan was discharged after treatment.

Kumar was a scooter mechanic and was running a tiffin service with his wife. The bodies have been kept in PGIMER mortuary and will be handed over to the family after post-mortem.

A case under Sections 279, 337 and 304A of the Indian Penal Code was registered in the Sector-39 police station against the unidentified driver.

In the other mishap, Rukmani, a resident of Manimajra, was killed when she was hit by Gurdeep Singh, 60, who was riding a motorcycle. They were rushed to PGIMER where Rukmani was declared brought dead while Gurdeep is in a critical condition.

Station house officer of Manimajra police station, inspector Rajesh Shukla said Rukmani was an employee at a dry cleaning shop in Manimajra. A case under Sections 279 and 337 of IPC was registered at the Manimjara police station.

In another incident, Neeraj Kumar, who was riding his motorbike, was hit by a car at the motor market in Manimajra. Neeraj is a resident of Indira Colony in Manimajra. The car was being driven by Dinesh Kumar, a resident of Sanjoli in Shimla.

Neeraj was rushed to Government Multi-Specialty Hospital in Sector 16. A case under Sections 279 and 337 of the IPC was registered in Manimajara police station. Dinesh was arrested and later released on bail.
