Four days after a youth was murdered outside the district court complex in SAS Nagar, police have arrested three persons, including two brothers and a kabaddi player.
The arrested have been identified as brothers Jatinder Singh Jeji (25) and Satnam Singh alias Satta (23) of Landran and Navjot Singh (22) of Padol.

On May 22, Saudagar Singh, an accused in an attempt to murder case and a kabaddi player, was hacked to death outside the court complex owing to an old enmity.

"Jatinder, the main accused, has been arrested. He was the one who attacked Saudagar with an axe a number of times," said SAS Nagar SSP Gurpreet Singh Bhullar.

"Saudagar was murdered owing to old rivalry. The accused after committing the crime escaped to Uttar Pradesh," he added

Police said accused Navjot was driving the vehicle in which the accused fled the spot after murdering Saudagar. Jeji's brother Satnam was in the group that had chased the deceased.

As per police, both Saudagar and Jatinder were kabaddi players and even played a few matches together. They developed enmity and used to get into repeated brawls. Both had a criminal background with number of cases registered against them.

On May 22, Saudagar had come to the court for appearance in a case registered against him at Kharar on August 10, 2010. While coming out of the court, Saudagar was attacked by Jatinder, Satnam and Navjot along with other accomplices with an axe.

The accused had pulled him out of the vehicle and held him by his wrists. Jaswant allegedly hit Saudagar repeatedly with an axe, leaving him in a pool of blood.

Rajinder, younger brother of Saudagar, who was locked inside the vehicle, had reportedly witnessed his brother's murder. On the basis of Rajinder's statement, a case of murder was registered at Mataur police station.
