The city police on Saturday claimed to have solved two cases of snatching and vehicle theft with the arrest of three members of a gang.
The accused have been identified as Amit, alias Meetu, a resident of Mohali; Anuj, a resident of Ram Darbar and Manish, alias Bakra, a resident of Ram Darbar.
All the accused have been sent to judicial custody, said Kirpal Singh, SHO, police station, Sector-31.
Reports said on the night of August 22, Durgesh Jaiswal, a resident of Ram Darbar, reported to the police that he was robbed by three persons when he was on the way to his house.
The victim was obstructed by three boys who pulled him out from the driving seat and snatched his purse containing cash and documents and fled in with his jeep (CH01AT-2488).
A PCR flashed the message on wireless and rounded up the vehicle Jeep at Phase-2. The jeep was occupied by Amit and Anuj while Manish who was driving fled.
During investigation, the duo admitted to have committed the crime. After getting inputs from them, Manish, the third accused, was also arrested from Ram Darbar.
Manish and Anuj are history sheeters and were arrested in several criminal cases registered against them with the Chandigarh police.
The accused had also beaten up Ramesh Kumar, a head constable of the UT police in another incident.
