The spate of rapes continues unabated in Haryana, as three more cases came to light on Saturday.
A 13-year-old girl belonging to a Backward Class was allegedly drugged and raped by three youths at Mehda village of Dadri sub-division in Bhiwani district on Wednesday. The police said they had managed to arrest main accused Krishan Kumar, 25, and Ajay alias Dillu, 25, while their accomplice Sandeep alias Kalia, 23, remained at large. All three belong to the same village as the victim, whose parents are daily-wagers.
According to the complaint, the girl, a class-7 student, was going to her neighbours' house when Krishan and Ajay came on a bike wearing masks and abducted her. They took her to a secluded place in nearby village Jui, where Sandeep joined them and they took turns raping the girl. Later they abandoned her on the outskirts of Jui. She called her family from a villager's mobile, after which the police were informed.
Also on Saturday, police finally took action in a case of gangrape allegedly committed a week ago in Dhaya village of Hisar district, and arrested all four accused. In this case, the victim was a 14-year-old Dalit girl. While her mother had passed away 10 years ago, the victim's father, a daily-wager, said he and his two sons were away at work when the girl came back from school and was alone at home in the afternoon.
The father said he was initially pressurised by some villagers for a compromise with the accused - two from a dominant caste and as many from a Dalit community -- though later the community elders backed him and he approached the police. A case was registered on Friday, six days after the incident, only after a group of residents met superintendent of police (SP) B Satheesh Balan.
