An assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of Punjab police, his wife and son were killed while three of their relatives were injured in a road accident near Gondpur village on Dasuya road late Wednesday.
The family from Jamsher Chathial village was rushing an ailing member to hospital but their Tata Indica car collided with an unidentified vehicle near a petrol pump.
ASI Tarsem Singh, 55, his son Kuldip Singh, 30, and wife Satnam Kaur, 50, died on the spot while three other occupants of the car, Sandeep Singh, Sukhdev Singh and Gian Singh were injured. The accident occurred around 11 pm. Kuldip, an armyman who had come home on leave, was driving the car.
The family was carrying Kuldeep’s younger brother Sandeep Singh to a hospital in Hoshiarpur. ASI Tarsem Singh was posted with the public complaint branch in the SSP office. His wife was an anganwari teacher. Kuldip is survived by his wife and two daughters aged five and three.
The police reached the spot and shifted the injured to the hospital. Bodies were also taken to the civil hospital for post-mortem. Station house officer Satish Chadha said the vehicle was yet to be identified.
3 die in Pathankot
Three persons were killed and one was seriously injured when a car rammed into a stationary truck on the Pathankot-Amritsar national highway late on Wednesday night. The victims were heading towards Pathankot in a Ritz car after attending a marriage party when the incident occurred. Two of them died on the spot while the third one succumbed to his injuries on way to hospital.
