3 sportspersons get lucky, will get flats in Purab Apartments

Three prominent sportspersons who won medals in Commonwealth Games 2010 got lucky on Monday when their names were announced among successful applicants for two-BHK flats in reserved category in the upcoming Purab Apartments in SAS Nagar near Chandigarh.

Krishna Poonia, gold medalist in 2010 CWG discus throw, and Harwant Kaur, a silver medalist in discus throw, were the two who were allotted two-bedroom flats under sports category. Boxer Jai Bhagwan was also among the lucky sportspersons.

These three athletes were the only ones who had applied for flats reserved for sportspersons.

Greater Mohali Area Development Authority's (GMADA) held draw for the two-BHK category of premium Purab Apartments. Draw for 1,800 two-BHK apartments with a price tag of Rs 55 lakh and parking provision for two cars was held on Monday, for which GMADA had received 4,403 applications.

Out of the 1,800 apartments, 1,158 apartments were allotted in general category while 278 were in the reserved category. A total of 214 applicants are on the waiting list.
