3 women among eight injured in Dera Bassi clash

Eight persons, including three women, were injured in a clash at Batoli village near here on Saturday night.

Eight persons, including three women, were injured in a clash at Batoli village near here on Saturday night.

The clash is said to be the fallout of a dispute over the usage of the village panchayat land. All injured have been admitted to the civil hospital here where foreign state minister Preneet Kaur also came to know about the well being of the injured persons. Police have registered counter complaints in connection with the clash and booked eighteen persons, including two women.

Congress leader Harmesh Batoli has alleged that he his wife Kanta, also the village sarpanch; father Kundan, and Sucha Singh, were injured in an attack by Bant Singh, Major Singh, Ram Singh, Sahib Singh, Sheesh Pal, Sukhwinder, Baljit, Tarsem, Hardev, Rani and Jarnail Kaur on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Bant Singh has alleged that Harmesh Batoli, his father Kundan Ram, Rohtash, Sucha, Ram Kumar and Ankush attacked them with batons and he alon gwith Jarnail Kaur, Rani and Sukhwinder were injured in the attack. Police have started investigations after registering cross FIRs against both the groups.
